Research interests and fields

The influence of emotion expression, emotion perception and culture on these processes, as well as how emotion affects social cognition and behavior, is mainly investigated by combining various research methods (facial movement analysis, eye movement tracking, mouse tracking, etc.) and statistical methods (multi-level modeling, Bayes, machine learning, etc.). The main emotion channels examined include (1) facial expressions, vocal bursts, speech prosody, and (2) arts (e.g., music, painting, dance, etc.). It mainly includes the following contents:

  • Static/dynamic facial expression generation and perception
  • Spontaneous expressions and performance expressions
  • Emotional speech production and perception
  • Emotion production and perception in different artistic forms (music, painting, dance, etc.)
  • Emotion experience induced by different artistic forms (music, painting, dance, etc.)

  • The influence of emotion on some basic and social cognitive processes
